Kibbutz Zikim is located in the northern Negev Desert in the south of the Israel. The kibbutz is currently evacuated.

During the surprise attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, six terrorists who arrived in a Savanna vehicle attacked the kibbutz. A prearranged standby unit fought a battle with them that lasted about an hour and managed to kill four of the terrorists, after one of the members of the standby unit managed to flank the terrorists, the rest fled. Two members of a kibbutz were injured (Zikim Battle). Later, the members of the kibbutz were evacuated to kibbutz Ma’aleh Hahamisha.

Prior to the war, it was written here that if there is one kibbutz in the surrounding area of the Gaza Strip that sleeps well (maybe), it can only be Kibbutz Zikim. In 1971, long before the conflict with Gaza, the kibbutz set up the Polyron mattress factory, which, over the years became one of the most successful mattress manufacturers in Israel. An Israeli sleeping empire you could say. Maybe they realized that in the future it would be a little difficult to sleep when you are 3 km from the border with Gaza.

Visit Kibbutz Zikim

Kibbutz Zikim is also a short distance from Zikim Beach and Zikim Sands Reserve. The kibbutz has a dairy farm, varios branches of agriculture, a nature products store owned by them and another factory called Polarit specializing in polyurethane combined products.

In the field of kibbutz tourism, you’ll find Beit Alami – also known as “The House at the Western End”  (since Kibbutz Zikim is the most western settlement in the country). The Ancient Alami House is a 100-year-old house located on a serene hilltop and overlooking the sea. Normally, it’s possible to take a tour of Beit Alami which also serves as a place for events.
