Kibbutz Saad (meaning “Assistance” or “Help”) is a religious kibbutz located in the south of the country on the border of the Gaza Strip between the cities of Sderot and Netivot. The kibbutz is currently evacuated.

On October 7, 2023, the Battle of Kibbutz Saad took place as part of the surprise attack on Israel. About 30 terrorists belonging to the terrorist organization Hamas tried to infiltrate Kibbutz Saad, which is about 3 km from the border with the Gaza Strip. At the kibbutz entrance gate a shootout took place between the kibbutz’s standby squad and the terrorists. The shootout thwarted the massacre that the terrorists planned to carry out in the kibbutz.

The kibbutz was established in 1947, and as its name, Saad (assistance), its establishment expresses the “assistance” needed for the settlement of the country.

In Hebrew Saad also means “to eat”. And Kibbutz Saad not only realizes its name by assisting the settlement of the country but also by feeding the nearby residents. Along with agriculture and industry, the kibbutz catering cooks and delivers over 8000 kosher meals a day to the surrounding communities!

So, if you happen to come to Kibbutz Saad, you can go for a walk in the cactus garden, visit the petting zoo and the Maoz security house / museum “In front of Gaza”, and enjoy a kosher meal in the kibbutz dining hall.
