Kibbutz Nitzanim is located in southern Israel between Ashkelon and Ashdod on the Nitzanim dunes. The founders of the kibbutz wanted to be fishermen, so they chose to settle and found a kibbutz by the sea. But a bloody battle at the outbreak of the War of Independence claimed many casualties. After the war, the kibbutz was relocated about 2 km east, and immigrants from South America, especially Argentina, joined.

On Kibbutz Nitzanim you can visit the memorial museum and the dining hall that is open to the general public.  The kibbutz has about 3,500 dunams of orchards that grow on sandy soils and are irrigated with the purified wastewater of Ashkelon. An agricultural wonder.
