Kibbutz Nir Oz is located in southern Israel, in the northwestern Negev desert. The kibbutz is currently evacuated.
On Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 6:30 in the morning, Hamas terrorists entered the kibbutz through all the gates and openings, murdering all those who went for a walk in the fields along the way. They arrived simultaneously from several directions, surrounded the kibbutz and knocked down the perimeter fence. They had a lot of ammunition, assault rifles, RPG missiles, grenades and explosives. Dozens of kibbutz residents were murdered in the massacre, and great destruction was caused (Nir Oz Massacre). Dozens of the kibbutz residents were abducted to the Gaza Strip and some were murdered while in captivity and their bodies are still being held in Gaza by Hamas.

Prior to the war, in addition to agriculture, Kibbutz Nir Oz has a factory for silicon sealant products and is also one of the largest paint manufacturers in the country, establishing the paint brand “Nirlat”.
The kibbutz is also located within a spectacular botanical garden with more than 900 varieties of trees, plants and flowers. With such abounding beauty and colors bursting out from every corner of the kibbutz, it makes even more sense why the folks on Kibbutz Nir Oz began distributing their colors in the form paint.
