Kibbutz Neot Smadar is located in the Arava in the southern part of Israel. In 2001, its name was changed from Shizafon to Neot Smadar.

The kibbutz was founded in 1989 by a group of friends from Jerusalem who decided to leave the city and search for a more collective life.

The economy is based on agriculture, with 500 dunams of organically cultivated vineyards, deciduous trees, olives, date plantations and an herb garden.

Kibbutz Neot Smadar operates a boutique organic winery and produces a variety of cheeses from fresh goat milk. Its roadside restaurant, Pundak Neot Smadar, offers vegetarian food and sells the kibbutz’s organic products.
