Kibbutz Negba, located in the south-center of Israel, provided quite a few tense moments in the country’s history. From the establishment of Negba as a Tower and Stockade settlement in 1939, through the bloody battle against Egypt in the War of Independence, and also in stark contrast, in the fifth set of the national championship volleyball game of the 1961/62 season when Hapoel Negba beat Hapoel Ein Shemer (another kibbutz team) and brought the national championship to the kibbutz!

Another pinch of tension was supplied by kibbutz member and army pilot Giroa Even Epstein, who shot down 17 aircrafts in aerial dogfights and is still considered the world champion with the highest number of enemy aircrafts shot down by the same pilot.

Visit Kibbutz Negba

In Kibbutz Negba you can visit an open-air museum, which includes a restored model of the Tower and Stockade settlements, an Egyptian tank that participated in the attack on the kibbutz and was destroyed, and the water tower pierced by shells, which remains as it was.

And those who want to relax, can sit at the local Babcha Bar, listen to great music, drink alcohol, eat well and release all of that tension.
