Kibbutz Naaran, which until 2018 is called Niran, is a small cooperative kibbutz in the Jordan Valley, about 10 km north of Jericho.

The kibbutz was re-established in 1999 by the alumni of the “Mahanot Haolim” youth movement as one of the “educator kibbutzim”, which means that the main economical branch of the kibbutz is education and most of the kibbutz members are involved with different educational projects.

Since 1999, year after year, groups of enthusiastic young people from all over the country have come down to the Jordan Valley to build a life of togetherness with a shared mission – to educate.

Every morning, the members of Kibbutz Naaran leave the kibbutz to fill teaching positions, training in the youth movement and in schools around the country, leading trips to Poland, adult education and more.

Kibbutz Naaran also grows dates, olives and a flower nursery. The kibbutz orchard also serves as a stage for experiential education and a meeting place with young groups from all over the country. Naaran also has a seminar center, which is a home for members of the movement for meetings and seminars.

Apart from the groups that come to Kibbutz Naaran, there are no real “tourist” attractions – which makes a visit even more interesting, authentic, enriching and astonishing to experience a group of motivated young people who strive to establish a good, cooperative society. There are rooms in the kibbutz designed for groups, and maybe if you reach out and say you want to visit, they may be happy to make the rooms available to you and expose you to their unique communal life.
