Kibbutz Hatzor Ashdod is located in the south of Israel near the city of Ashdod. In the 1970s, Kibbutz Hatzor Ashdod had a dining room – with an convertible roof! An attraction that today would have attracted tens of thousands of visitors. At the push of a button the roof would move backwards on a rail, the rays of sun would shine inside the dining room which instantly became like a picnic in nature. Although the roof has been replaced since, the dining room is still active and the kibbutz continues to maintain a cohesive and proud communal kibbutz atmosphere.

The attraction that did bring thousands of visitors to Kibbutz Hatzor Ashdod on weekends in the 1990s was the mythological Metrock Club. The decibels from crazy parties and singers from all over the country blended well with the decibels of the jets at the adjacent Hazor base. Perhaps because of all the noise, the kibbutz chose to invest in another type of club in which silence was well maintained – the Hatzor Badminton Club – one of the largest in the country.

Visit Kibbutz Hatzor Ashdod

On the ruins of the old silo where the Metrock was located, there is today a highly recommended restaurant called Bistrock – a seasonal bistro restaurant. In the kibbutz you will find a second-hand store and The White Gallery exhibiting mostly Israeli works of art.
