Kibbutz Galil Yam is located in the center of the country, between Ramat Hasharon and Herzliya.

On its 75th anniversary, Kibbutz Galil Yam launched a project to signpost historical sites, including barcodes with explanations and photos, and a “kibbutz hunt” with riddles that can be downloaded from the kibbutz’s website. It was considered a creative and important initiative not only as part of the preservation of kibbutz history but also as a means of exposing the heritage to those who wish to visit and understand the kibbutz phenomenon. And in the case of Galil Yam, the kibbutz is quite a phenomenon, located in the middle of the bustling city of Herzliya in the center of the country.

Visit Kibbutz Galil Yam

For many years, Kibbutz Galil Yam was located in an open area, between fields and orchards. In the early days, the founding members of Kibbutz Glil Yam worked with the aim of “conquering” the Jewish/Hebrew labor work in the city (in the port, fishing, trains, etc. ) and turning it into Jewish labor. Therefore, they situated themselves not far from the city.

In retrospect, they settled on fertile land not only in the agricultural sense, but also in the financial sense. Over the years, the city expanded and closed on the kibbutz and today Galil Yam is a rural enclave surrounded by concrete mountains. However, the community in Galil Yam manages to maintain its unique kibbutz character with a rich cultural life, social education… and also in the culinary field.

In Galil Yam, the first kibbutz in the movement that privatized food in the kibbutz dining hall (where passersby are welcome to eat), you can also sit in Galia’s Hummus or at the Mi Casa Restaurant, where the kibbutz atmosphere is no less enjoyable than the food.

In addition, you can stop by jeweler Einat Paz’s studio, whose works are sold in stores around the country, and many items designed by her have been exhibited worldwide.
