Kibbutz Gilgal is located in the Jordan Valley in the West Bank, about 16 kilometers north of Jericho. Every year during the summer months, the media celebrates the  heavy record-breaking heat that afflicts the kibbutz. But what really needs to be celebrated is the warmth of the community and the life of sharing, the mutual commitment and social involvement that have brought Kibbutz Gilgal to impressive achievements in recent years, all despite and alongside the impossible conditions (and not just the weather).

What else is impossible in this kibbutz? Gilgal is a kibbutz of the “Red” social democratic Zionist movement… within a settlement in the West Bank on “occupied” Palestinian teritories. Along with hard work, vision and faith, Kibbutz Gilgal has become a date empire and a leader in the field of agriculture thanks to its large dairy farm, a poultry coop and a vineyard. Kibbutz Gilgal is also a regional service center in many areas such as carpentry, locksmith, garage, beauty salon, hairdresser, printing house and more.

The kibbutz, which was almost abandoned in the 1980s, continues to grow and accept new families wishing to live a kibbutz life.
