Kibbutz Beerot Yitzhak, a religious kibbutz in the center of the country, is located about a mile and a half from the runways of Ben Gurion Airport, and on regular days, every few minutes pass jets above the kibbutz houses.

The founders of Beerot Yitzhak began their journey near Gaza in 1943 as a religious kibbutz. During the War of Independence, the kibbutz was heavily shelled, destroyed and almost occupied by Egyptian army forces. After the war, the members decided to re-establish the kibbutz in the center of the country near the city of Yahud. From the old kibbutz, only the perforated water tower remains, which is in an open field between two other Kibbutzim, Alumim and Nahal Oz, and was turned into an impressive memorial site for the original Kibbutz Beerot Yitzhak in the Negev.

Visit Kibbutz Beerot Yitzhak

Kibbutz Beerot Yitzhak is a religious kibbutz that maintains a cooperative lifestyle and alongside agriculture and industry, the kibbutz members are also vigorously engaged in volunteering and social involvement. One of the exciting projects is “the community wedding project” that started in 2017 and helps financially disadvantaged couples to arrange a wedding. As part of the project, many from the kibbutz community of all ages take part in the planning, ceremony and even the singing. The kibbutz also has a long tradition of adopting lone soldiers.

In the kibbutz itself (not in the commercial center next to it) there is a gift shop called Fuchsia and an active dining room open to the public. You can arrange a kibbutz tour and meeting with the veteran kibbutz members as part of the “Miracles and Wonders” project. The “Spirit of the Field” preparatory school – a religious pre-military preparatory school for boys, is also located on Kibbutz Beerot Yitzhak.
