At the northern end of the Dead Sea, the founders of Kibbutz Almog created a social, agricultural and tourist oasis. The kibbutz, located at the foot of the Judean Desert, was established in 1979 by the pioneers of the new generation, mainly idealistic members from other kibbutzim in Israel who came to the area to fulfill the Zionist settlement vision.

In its early years, Kibbutz Almog was known as a demanding place reserved for those brave individuals who were willing to bear the burden of the heat from sunrise to sunset. And the heat in the area is certainly, at times, unbearable for humans but virtuous for date crops and desert agriculture. Over the years, Kibbutz Almog’s community, like it’s agricultural crops, grew in size and along with new families and young idealists that joined, there is a student village on the kibbutz that adds some much needed young and fresh air to the community.
